Like many other quilt stories, this quilt was initiated to exhaust a pile of leftover blocks and fabric of similar color. As the improvised patches began to aggregate, the ones with a white form began to coalesce but not connect. My husband was recently diagnosed with cognitive impairment, and some of these patients convert to Alzheimers’ Disease. This quilt is representative of the neuronal fragmentation that occurs in patients with Alzheimers Disease.
The title is from poem “The Second Coming,” by W.B. Yeats.
